Not In Our Own Wisdom

The Bible does not shun wisdom as it is a good thing to have.  However, when we share the gospel we all have to be careful not to be wise in our own might, but rather through the power of the Holy Spirit.

I Corinthians 2:1-5   And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. A Prayer for Boldness

We all could use some boldness but I think the Apostles in Acts gave the perfect example prayer for it. Boldness is defined as "the trait of being willing to undertake things that involve risk or danger...the quality of standing out strongly and distinctly" (TheFreeDictionary.com/boldness).  Let us take a queue from them and be truly bold for Yahweh.

Acts 4:24-30 

“(24)...Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, (25) who by the mouth of Your servant David[b] have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, And the people plot vain things? (26) The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the Lord and against His Christ.’ (27) “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together (28) to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. (29) Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, (30) by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” (NKJV)
